About AIIMS - All India Institute of Medical Sciences
The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous government public medical colleges of higher education. These institutes have been declared by an Act of Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. AIIMS New Delhi, the forerunner institute, was established in 1956. Since then, 22 more institutes were announced. As of January 2020, fifteen institutes are operating and eight more are expected to become operational until 2025. Proposals were made for six more AIIMS.
As of January 2021, 4 AIIMS still are under development. In November 2019, the health ministry stated that all 22 new AIIMS will be functional by February 2025. There are also proposals for establishing AIIMS in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tripura and Mizoram.

It is one of the four “Phase-IV” All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) announced in July 2014. It started operation in 2018 from a temporary campus in Nagpur. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh (AIIMS Raebareli) is a medical institute located in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, India. One of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, it was established in 2013 and operates under the mentorship of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). In respect of AIIMS Rae Bareli Project, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has agreed to provide about 148 acres of land for setting up the Institute.
